The Tolt River Railroad is a 24-inch gauge line at Remlinger Farms in Carnation, Wash. The line has been in operation for quite a few years, but they just recently completed restoration of a second Crown 4-4-0 locomotive. Due to the large crowds at the Harvest Festival, they decided to run the train as a doubleheader. The two engines are the same size, so they look and sound great together!

We just finish a model of a snow tunnel for our train here at Camp Sunrise. Hope you can come see it some time. We would like to add a static display of a mine entrance with a 24 gauge side dump mining car on a very short piece of track. Any suggestion where we might find and old mining car?

Picture by Dave Waldren.  Dave was up in North Wales on Saturday and just happened to be at Beddgelert when a special (private excursion) train from the Ffestiniog Railway ventured north on to the Welsh Highland.  A double Fairlie ("Merddyn Emrys") leads a single Fairlie ("Taliesin") north out of Beddgelert station.  They are already on a 2.5% gradient and working hard, as you see.  Cheers, John H.

 Veterans Memorial RR

Our Liberty County 4H office elected to use the Veterans Memorial RR as the theme for their county exhibit at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, which opens tomorrow 02/05/2010.   Also, I saw a posting on the ParkTrain newsgroup talking about a convention this year.  Do you think there is enough interest in having it in this area?  We have four 2' gauge railroads within 250 miles of Bristol.  Reg Weller with a live steam prairie 250 miles east.  Wales West with a live steam English locomotive 200 miles west, Heart of Dixie railroad museum with a live steam propane fired Crown 200 miles north and our railroad with our Crown which is  only coal fired locomotive in Florida.  Plus we have the NAD "Century Flyer" train set and will soon have an NAD steam outline operational which ran at Old Tucson movie studios.  All are open to the public except Regg's, which is on private property.  All but Heart of Dixie have camping spots on the railroad property and motels available within 1/2 hour drive or less.

Is there any interest in a convention in Florida or Ohio this year?

Wales West

By Ken & Ann Zadnichek

Our action-packed miniature trains "Spring Steam-up" is only two months away. This year's event promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever. We are expecting the Baldwin County Tractor Club, along with a road rally by the Panhandle car club, a model train display, steam whistles, air horns, and lots of miniature locomotives and train sets from around the Southeast. The two-foot-gauge train will also be taking the "Cottontail Express" to the Bunny Barn for Easter Egg hunts.  With the exception of the "Cottontail Express," the event is a fundraiser for the "Three Gauge Club" that operates the miniature trains and "G" scale model trains. The club is asking a modest donation to ride the miniature trains. Any extra donations are gratefully excepted. Your donations really help the club continue to expand the miniature railways.  One of the best ways you can help is to join the club! If you like to work on the railroad, the club has scheduled work days. If you'd rather join just to help out with your paid dues, that’s great too.  Either way, you'll get e-mail updates of the progress being made, special events, railroad photos and articles that club members share with the group. Dues are only $30.00 per year for individuals and $40.00 for families. Your dues also initial you to all the non-event train rides you want on both the 7.5 & two-ft- gauge railways for a year. If you have anything of interest you would like to bring to the steam-up (loco, hit and miss engine, whistle, anything steam powered, etc.), please contact me at enquries@waleswest.com or call (888) 569-5337 to be included. If you’re an arts and crafts person or a vender of railway items, we have low-cost booth spaces available. The tea room in the main train station will be open serving up all sorts of yummy snacks and lunch items.

The event dates are March 27 and 28. The park is open form 10 a.m., until 5 p.m. This is a family-friendly event, so come on out to the only authentic Welsh narrow gauge railway in the Americas and have some inexpensive fun!

We hope to see you on the train!

Great news! The "Day out with Thomas" event has become a reality. The event dates are April 24 and 25, May 1 and 2, and May 8 and 9. Tickets are on sale for $18.00 +tax per person either online through Ticket-web or here at the railway. If you want to save $3.00 per ticket, drop by the railway anytime between 10 a.m., and 5 p.m., save the online service fee. There is also a group discount of $14.00 per ticket+ tax for groups of twenty or more. There is a lot more information on our web site http://www.waleswest.com or our Facebook page concerning train times, activities and the like. You can also call us at (888) 569-5337 if you have any questions. We expect this event to be a sellout, so book your favorite date and time early. We're excited about this.

The add on their web site says Narrow Gauge Thomas!

I saw your website and thought you might like to look at ours. We are in the beginning stages of redeveloping our corridor for a new narrow gauge railway. The branch we own is quite scenic, and we feel that it offers a lot as it was a piece of the Lackawanna. Web site is:    http://www.ucsvroute.com/

Utica Chenango and Susquehanna Valley

Welcome to our website! Please take a moment to explore our property. We are a real estate management company which owns the former Lackawanna Railroad property through the Towns of Bridgewater, Plainfield, Winfield, Columbia and Richfield in central New York. The railroad traces its origins to the building aspirations of the Utica, Chenango and Susquehanna Valley Railroad (UC&SV RR) of 1868.

Today the roadbed consists of an 18-plus-mile corridor ready for redevelopment for a variety of uses. We are actively seeking new development partners to enhance existing informal recreational use of the corridor and use of the corridor for a new narrow gauge railway for public passenger service. We also offer real estate management services to businesses and individuals who have adjacent land to our properties. We allow by special permission the use of our property to businesses, individuals and groups that use our properties for occupation, appurtenance and recreational uses . Please take a moment to view our site and contact us should you need additional information regarding the many unique opportunities along the UC&SV route.
